Dare I even ask? Suspense writer Brandilyn Collins says, "yes". Her article for unpublished authors is liberating, and I suspect that published authors will even find it refreshing.
Very refreshing. I've taken breaks from writing before and I always come back with more ideas and feeling more intune with the whole writing process. It feels good to know that it's ok to say no once in a while - for your sanity :)
I read an interview with a widely published children's author who advocates taking a break from writing -- but the way she does that is by writing several genres at once. When she hits a wall with one manuscript she starts on another! She usually has three or four on the go and publishes about that many a year. I'd like to be able to take that kind of break! LOL.

ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday,

Breaks kept us sane and creative.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good link! It is nice to hear that we can take a break every once in awhile.
ReplyDeleteHi Carla -
ReplyDeleteI took a break after I finished my last manuscript. Writers who churn out three and four books a year astound me.
Blessings,
Susan :)
