Worth 1,000 Words Writing Prompt & Giveaway - January/February

Worth a 1,000 Words Writing Prompt!

Each month through November 2010 I'll be featuring a writing prompt here at Writing to Distraction.  The prompt will be based on a photograph.  You know, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I invite you all to submit an entry of up to 1,000 words.  This is just for fun to stimulate your creativity and to give others a sampling of your writing.  All those who participate will be eligible for a prize. It's not a contest, I'm just having a prize as a little added incentive and appreciation for your work.  Although, in December I will choose my favorite entry of the year for a special grand prize.

On the 1st Monday of the month you'll find an new writing promt and have the entire month to participate before the next round begins.  You can writing in any genre, any style all I ask is that you keep it clean.  You can write 1,000 words, more or less, but try to write at least 500 words.  This is a no stress prompt.  I repeat, this is a no stress prompt.

When you have completed your entry, come back and post it here with Mr. Linky any time during the month.  If you are not posting it at your blog you may leave it in the comments section of this post.   Please submit your entry no later than the last day of this month.

I hope you'll help me out by spreading the word by taking a badge, blogging, tweeting, or posting on facebook.  Thank you so much for participating!!!

And now for the prompt:

Writing Prompt Picture:  (Photo taken by me.)   Is it morbid?  Is it memorable?  Is it in the past, present, or future?  You decide.  Make it worth a thousand words if you can.

Please take a badge and include it on your blog post with your entry.

Please be sure to add your entry using Mr. Linky or submit in the comment area.  Check back throughout the month to visit the entries that have been listed.  Have fun!

  6. Oh, what a lovely idea! I'll have to work it into my schedule once I finish editing my manuscripts--which will hopefull ybe next month ;) By the way, I love that picture at the top of your blog, under the Bible verse. It reminds me of some of the children's books my mom used to read to me that she passed on to me for my kiddos.

  10. Cool idea! I like that you used a picture for the prompt. The name is the same as the character from my last novel. Interesting.

  14. This sounds really interesting. I've got some ideas running around in my head so I'll try to give it a try. If not, next month. I haven't done a lot of writing lately, just a lot of reading so this will be a challenge.

    Blessings,
    Vickie
