You know, I've heard the opposite before, how we should unattach ourselves to our writing. But I can't. If it doesn't make me cry, laugh or get angry, I can't believe it will for my readers.
That reminds me what Tim Downs said in one of the general sessions at the conference last weekend. He mentioned how his wife found him crying. When asked if he was all right, he responded that he was crying because one of his characters had just become a Christian.
