Seize the Day

Thanks for joining me in the hot tub . . . and now time for a little music.

As a writer, how do you seize the day?

  3. I seize the day early, with my morning coffee, getting settled in at the computer, with my journal and itinerary, and tackle what's at hand! Happy writing :)

  4. That's an inspiring song to start the writing day with!

I seize the day by trying to keep my writing in the forefront. Even if I can't work on it in long chunks, I try to keep it simmering on low :)

  5. Carpe diem, indeed! My Latin is a bit rusty but I think that's right:) I've found that my day is much smoother and more focused when I start my day with Him. My writing is better and my attitude improves, too. Have a wonderful weekend, Carla!

  6. Isn't that a great song? Starting the day with prayer makes a gigantic difference in my day. Coffee next. I have a little routine and if I don't do it I'm all off. Never thought of myself as so rigid that way, as the rest of my day is usually so random. Joanne, you sound so self-disciplines. Wish I was. I do what Georgiana said, I keep my writing simmering on low even if I can't write.

Blessings to all of you. Keep the music in your heart! Carpe diem! (Thanks, Laura)

  8. What an inspirational song that really hits home. I usually start out trying to seize the day but bits of it trickle away as time progresses until by evening I'm looking at my empty hands wondering where on earth the time went!

I think a good starting point is becoming more aware and holding tight to whatever time you do have -- really guarding it by recognizing that it's important even if you aren't published yet.

  9. I'm glad you all enjoyed the song. Makes me think back to 10 years ago when it was out and a favorite of mine then. Now I am looking back over the past 10 years reflecting on my writing. For quite a while I had to put it on hold because of family matters, but here I am now making progress. I guess I'm seizing the day (big picture wise)! I hope you all are able to look at the big picture and see progress even if the day does seem to get away from us from time to time. It does have a way of slipping through our fingers. I'm trying to remember that unpublished writing is important, too.

  10. This is one of my favorite songs; thanks for sharing the video.

I try to glean ideas for my writing from the things I see and the events of each day. Even when I don't sit down to write, I jot down snippets of conversation or details of interesting people to use for characters. I still need to work on the self-discipline it takes to actually finish something and submit it.

  11. Thank you for sharing this, Carla! I've never heard that song but the phrase, "Seize the Day" has always been one of my favorites.

I'm learning how to do just that, a little bit each day.

    Have a wonderful weekend!
